How can I get rid of a diesel fuel odor?

I purchased a set of mannequin hands on ebay (which are hollow inside). There is a powerful odor of diesel fuel eminating from the inside of them and I can’t get rid of it! You can smell it throughout the room. I’ve tried bleach and also a commerical deodorizer- can someone please help me?!
try soaking them in vinegar… so thats where my set of mannequin hands went….
