there is a tag on the engine or valve cover that has all the engine information. valve lash, engine #, serial #, fuel rate, and horsepower and torque. every diesel engine has this tag.
Depends a yr the HO came with the stick shift. The 04.5 was the first 600 series 325hp look on the valve cover drivers side tag.If 305 hp it’s a 04 an lower.05=06 has 610 series 325hp.No HO If your looking i say 04.5 or newer as they come with 4″ exhaust an other computer upgrades an a different trans 48 which is better than a 47=03=04 an these are the quiet Engines. I have the 04.5 4×4 auto 3500 swb loaded 100hp quadzilla, ram/air cold induction system. 20 mph hwy 315×70 x17 BF /ta/KO
The easy answer -
any 235hp and 250 hp engine is a SO Standard Output engine. 235hp engines were California emissions engines.
Any other engine is a HO. 305hp and up are all HO. The Standard output 250 was dropped in 04.5, so if you have an 04.5+ you have a HO. If it is an 03 or 04, just look at that sticker and you will see which engine it is.
easiest way…last 8 characters of the vin, call the dealership. ask them to run a VIP report, or some call it a “14″. all vehicle options listed there!
