any ideas as to why the turbo is not working. It has just been fitted (brand new turbo) but is not cutting in when increasing speed.

  1. The turbo on a Cummins does not have a waste gate and does not “cut in” as you put it. What symptoms does your engine have? Does it have a lot of black smoke, poor acceleration? Just because you have a brand new turbo there could be other problems. The turbo could still be bad, not installed correctly (v-band torqued wrong), the exhaust could have a restriction, the air intake could be restricted, the prop or shaft could have something on it creating an overload for the engine.

  2. some cummins engines do have a wastegate,i suggest removing the intake hose from the turbo and seeing if the impeller is spinning if the turbo wasnt prelubed it could be seized up

  3. could be a problem with your injectors
