  1. the other two are in house built engines but both owe their orignal build and technology to Navatar/International

  2. Dodge is cummins, Ford is international ( now ford makes their own), and Chevy was designed by isuzu but built at a plant that they created.

  3. dodge is cummins (owned by ford)
ford is navistar, formerly international, but sued a couple months back by navistar for trying to make their own in breach of contract
GM is Isuzu, a largely owned subsidiary purchased largely for their diesel technology.

  4. Ford gets their PowerStroke diesels from International, formerly of International Harvester.

    Dodge’s diesels are Cummins.

GM is using captive imports from Isuzu or else building the Isuzu design under license.

  5. Dodge: Cummins
Jeep: Mercedes Benz ( 3.0L in Grand Cherokee)
    GM: Isuzu designed, GM manufactured
    Ford: Navistar

  6. New for 2008 in Ford’s lineup of Super Duty trucks is an optional 6.4-liter Power Stroke turbo-diesel V-8 engine that generates 350 hp at 3000 rpm and 650 lb.-ft. of torque at 2000 rpm. Navistar’s International Truck and Engine Co. produces diesel engines for Ford Super Duty trucks that are built at the plant in Louisville, KY.

Chevrolet offers its Silverado 2500HD truck with a Duramax engine choice that runs on B5 biodiesel fuel. General Motors was to retool a plant in Tonawanda, NY, to build a new diesel engine for light-duty pickups. In the past, most diesels powered heavy-duty trucks, but the new 4.5 liter, V-8 engine will be offered in GM’s light-duty pickups, such as the Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra built after ‘09.

Dodge says more than 80 percent of Ram 2500 and 3500 buyers will choose the available 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel High Output engine that delivers 350 hp.
