Sounds like the fuel filter is plugged. Buy gas at branded (BP, Chevron, Exxon..etc) stores cause the unbranded crap has dirt in it that clogs filters quicker.
Hey Carl G H….I understand where you are coming from—–however, just because the code gets cleared doesn’t mean the problem goes away. You should know better than that. All mechanics know that you CLEAR the code and then recheck vehicle once the light comes on again.
maybe the radiator? if the temperature is getting too high it wont lot your revs get very high. perhaps you should take the lights advice and ‘check engine’.
Go to autozone, and borrow their ODBII scanner tool (free). That will tell you whats up.
I agree with Lily above. All the symptoms of a plugged fuel filter. Usually when it happens like you described it I would bet that you got water sucked up out of the stations tank. Water is any fuel filters A number one enemy
many diesels have an overspeed sensor that goes to a failsafe if the engine had bene over reved or ? the computer records the problem and wont allow you to harm it till a tech clears it from the memory. dirty fuel filters dont set off the warning lights, so I suspect the over rev
